Domenico Lembo received the Ph.D. in Engineering in Computer Science at the Department of Ingegneria Informatica, Automatica e Gestionale of the same university in 2004. He is currently full professor in the same department (IINF-05/A cat.).
His research interests include artificial intelligence, databases, knowledge representation, Semantic Web, data integration, ontologies, inconsistency management in information systems, Description Logics and reasoning on information disclosure. He is co-author of more than 120 publications in scientific journals and proceedings of national and international conferences and workshops. A number of such publications appeared in the most prestigious journals and conference proceedings in the areas of artificial intelligence and databases (ACM TODS, Information Systems, Artificial Intelligence Journal, Semantic Web Journal, ACM PODS, VLDB, IJCAI, KR, AAAI). He is author of tutorials on ontologies and Semantic Web, presented at international conferences (ESWC, ISWC, AAAI)
He has been and is currently involved in several Italian and European projects on information integration, reasoning over ontologies, and data inconsistency management.
He is regularly member of the program committee of the major conferences in artificial intelligence and databases. Furthermore, he has been co-Chair of the program committee of the 22nd International Conference of the Italian Association for Artificial Intelligence (AIxIA 2023), the13th Reasoining Web Summer School (RW 2017), the 23rd Italian Symposium on Advanced Database Systems (SEBD 2015), the 7th International Conference on Web Reasoning and Rule Systems (RR 2013), and the 20th International Workshop on Description Logics (DL 2007), general chair of the 33rd Italian Symposium on Advanced Database Systems (SEBD 2025) and of the 25th International Workshop on Description Logics (DL 2012), and publicity and proceedings chair of the 27th ACM SIGMOD-SIGACT-SIGART Symposium on Principles of Database Systems (PODS 2008). He has been vice-president of the steering committee of the Web reasoning and Rule Systems (RR) conference series (2018-2024).
He received the AAAI award in 2021 for the article "DL-Lite: Tractable Description Logics for Ontologies" (AAAI 2005), together with Diego Calvanese, Giuseppe De Giacomo, Maurizio Lenzerini, Riccardo Rosati.
Since 2004 he is lecturer of courses in engineering in computer science (i.e., databases, software design, etc.) at the Sapienza University. Since 2023 he his the director of the laurea degrees in Engineering in Computer Science at Sapienza.
