Actionable and Responsible AI in Medicine

In this talk I will provide an account of recent developments, state of art, potentialities of AI in different clinical (bench-side and bed-side) settings:
  • Image (histological) and video (e.g. surgery) data analysis.
  • Causal Reasoning, Graph-based Platforms and Visual Interfaces for
  • Integrative Data Analyses.
  • Foundation models and Digital twins.
  • Diffusion models for synthetic data generation and in drug discovery.
I will consider personalised and population medicine aspects.
 
 
Short Bio:
Pietro Lio' received the PhD degree in complex systems and nonlinear dynamics from the School of Informatics, dept of Engineering, University of Firenze and the PhD degree in Genomic sciences from the University of Pavia. He is currently Professor Professor at the Department of Computer, Control and Management Engineering of the University of Rome La Sapienza and Professor of computational biology with the Artificial Intelligence Group of the Department of Computer Science and Technology, University of Cambridge. He is also a member of the Cambridge Centre for AI in Medicine and a fellow of ELLIS (European Laboratory for Learning and Intelligent Systems). His research interests focus on biomedical data modeling integration using Graph representation learning, Bioinformatics and Systems Biology. Current EU grants include the development of AI methods in Down Syndrome neurological comorbidities, Multiple Sclerosis, the link between Atrial fibrillation and dementia and the development of Raman and Infrared microscopy in surgeries.
