Wandercraft: Making wheelchair users walk again - Presenting the exoskeleton Atalante
Abstract
Wandercraft is a french Paris-based company developing Atalante, an advanced lower-limb medical exoskeleton enabling wheelchair users to walk on their own legs once again, certified as a medical device and commercially sold in the EU and in the USA. This talk will present Atalante, with focus on its development, on the challenges posed by the application, on the methodologies employed to solve them and on the technical solutions put in place, both at the hardware level and at the software and control level.
Biosketch
Gabriele Buondonno received the Bachelor degree in Computer and Control Engineering and the Master degree in Artificial Intelligence and Robotics both from the Sapienza University of Rome. At DIAG, he took his PhD in Automation, Bioengineering and Operations Research in 2018. He was then a post-doc with the French National Centre for Scientific Research (CNRS) at LAAS in Toulouse. Since January 2020, he has been working at Wandercraft as R&D Control-Command Engineer.
