DESCRIPTION:Abstract:The division of Automatic Control at Linköping univers
 ity has a long tradition and a strong position in Sweden when it comes to 
 research in the wide area of localization.  This research\, includes SLAM 
 applications\, multi-target tracking\, and sensor management with the purp
 ose of both maximizing localization and tracking performance.  In this tal
 k I will give an overview of these activities\, as well dive into a fun on
 going project where we show how novel utilization of an array of magnetome
 ters can provide a short-term localization solution or reduce drift in an 
 inertial navigation system. Short Bio:Gustaf Hendeby (S'04-M'09-SM'17) rec
 eived the  M.Sc. degree in applied physics and electrical engineering in 2
 002 and the Ph.D. degree in automatic control in 2008\, both from Linköpin
 g University\, Linköping\, Sweden.He is Associate Professor and Docent at 
 the division of Automatic Control\, Department of Electrical Engineering\,
  Linköping University.  He worked as Senior Researcher at the German Resea
 rch Center for Artificial Intelligence (DFKI) 2009--2011\, as Senior Scien
 tist at Swedish Defense Research Agency (FOI) and held an adjunct Associat
 e Professor position at Linköping University 2011--2015.  His main researc
 h interests are sensor fusion and stochastic signal processing with applic
 ations to nonlinear problems\, target tracking\, and simultaneous localiza
 tion and mapping (SLAM)\, and he is the author of several published articl
 es and conference papers in the area.  He has experience of both theoretic
 al analysis as well as implementation aspects.Dr. Hendeby is since 2018 an
  Associate Editor for IEEE Transactions on Aerospace and Electronic System
 s in the area of target tracking and multisensor systems\, and since 2021 
 leader of the WASP Localization and Navigation Area Cluster. In 2022 he se
 rved as general chair for the 25th IEEE International Conference on Inform
 ation Fusion (FUSION) in Linköping\, Sweden and Technical Chair for the 26
 th IEEE International Conference on Information Fusion in Charleston\, SC.
   He was elected into the International Society of Information Fusion (ISI
 F) board of directors for the term 2023--2025.
