DESCRIPTION:AbstractTo enable strategic and operational decision-making\, i
nformation systems must provide mechanisms to support the tasks of modelli
ng\, gathering\, visualisation and analysis of a set of indicators that ev
aluate performance-relevant data of one or several business processes. Unf
 ortunately\, to date\, there is not a well-established holistic standard o
r even a set of good practices that guide these tasks. Instead\, process o
wners\, CIOs\, CEOs and domain experts rely on their intuition and experie
nce for all of these activities\, often applying ad-hoc techniques and too
ls. In her talk\, Prof. del Río Ortega will offer a comprehensive overview
of performance management for business processes\, along with a set of gu
idelines and techniques that address the modelling\, evaluation\, analysis
and visualisation of performance indicators. The insights she will provid
e integrate well-grounded literature from both academic and industrial sou
rces with the most recent advancements in research. BioAdela del Río Orteg
a is an Associate Professor at University of Seville (US) and a member of
the SCORE-Lab Unit of Excellence and the ISA Research Group. She obtained
her international PhD in Computer Science Engineering in 2012. With her Ph
D thesis\, she opened the research line of Business Process Management in
her group. Her research mainly focuses on the performance perspective of b
usiness processes. She has been contributing seminal works on the definiti
on and automatic analysis of process performance indicators. Other researc
h interests include Robotic Process Automation\, knowledge-intensive proce
sses\, decision management in BPM\, conversational agents to support BPM i
n different ways and Workstream collaboration tools. She has more than 50
publications in major outlets of the computer science and information syst
ems areas and has ongoing collaborations with various international schola
rs. She developed two registered software tools\, which generated an indus
trial value of more than 60k €. She has taken part in more than 10 project
s that were externally funded. In her professional career\, she has cooper
ated with several IT companies as a consultant and researcher.
