 t is by DIAG on 13-15 November. The European Conference on Ambient Intelli
 gence is the prime venue for research on Ambient Intelligence\, with an in
 ternational and interdisciplinary character. It brings together researcher
 s and practitioners from the fields of science\, engineering\, and\, desig
 n working towards the vision of Ambient Intelligence. This year's event fo
 cus topic is “Data-driven Ambient Intelligence” that follows the vision of
  Calm Technology\, where technology is useful but does not demand our full
  attention or interfere with our usual behavior and activities.Fabio Pater
 nò is Research Director at Istituto di Scienza e Tecnologie dell’Informazi
 one (C.N.R.-ISTI) in Pisa\, Italy. At C.N.R.-ISTI he founded and leads the
  Laboratory on Human Interfaces in Information Systems. His research work 
 is in user interface software and technologies\, aiming at designing langu
 ages\, models\, tools\, and applications that better support the user expe
 rience. Over years he has worked on ubiquitous interactive systems\, end-u
 ser development\, adaptive user interfaces\, accessibility\, and model-bas
 ed design. He has published more than 250 papers in refereed international
  conferences or journals.
